DAAARRKNEESSSS RAAAAHH. But seriously, this is a great doom metal album. I realize now that I underestimated the power of organs before listening to this masterpiece. The singers soft choir-vocals are amazing.
October tide demo. Very good demo but I noticed something. The first riff in To Die From Strength sounded familiar and after listening through Katatonia I realized that it's the exact same riff in Katatonias song At Last, from the Sounds of Decay EP. Anyway, If you like Rain Without End you should check this out.
While I'm at Katatonia I think you need to hear this shit! This side project of Jonas Renske and Fredrik Norrman from Katatonia continued playing the early Katatonia sound but you can notice some progression. This is one of the best doom albums I've ever heard. Highly Recommended!
I like listening to old demos, partly for the shitty quality but mostly just to see how a band sounded like young. Lord Seth and Blakkheim must have been...16-17 during the recording. But it's really a jewel. I wonder why they didn't include these 2 tracks on Dance of December Souls.
This EP is the follow-up to Katatonias classic Dance of December Souls album (which imo is the best one) from 1993 and is perhaps my favorite EP ever. If you enjoyed DoDS you'll certainly enjoy this.
I love The Faceless, and on this album I feel that they have moved away from their previous deathcore-influenced sound. So if you've heard The Faceless earlier expect less deathcore and more prog. Excellent riffs, Legions of The Serpent makes me shiver (in a good way!) .The only thing that bother me is the Cynic-like robot voice on some songs.
Prepare for this mindblowing album that combines the sweet melodies and technical elements of death metal.
Old school Swedish death metal. A underrated band who after recording this awesome album simply disappeared. To me, they are in the same league as Dismember or Entombed.
This is the second album by imo, one of the best prog bands out there.
Funeral/melodic doom metal at its best. Highly recommended.
